You pour your heart into this work.
You show up for others, listen to their stories, and hold space for their struggles.
But who's holding space for you?
Together We Heal is a space just for you.
A place where you can exhale, be heard, and receive the same care and support you so generously give to others.
This is not another task on your to-do list. It's a refuge. A moment to pause, reflect, and refill your cup so you can continue the work that means so much to you — without losing yourself in the process.
Who This Is For?
This space is for community organizers, advocates, nonprofit workers, and volunteers supporting communities in Nebraska. It's for anyone who needs a place to be heard, to rest, and to heal — together.
Come as you are. No pressure, no expectations — just a circle of care, understanding, and support. Because your well-being matters too.
Together We Heal Group
Each session is co-held by Miguel Estevez Jr., LIMHP, LPC, NCC and Gladys Godinez, community organizer and Executive Director of United by Culture Media — so you're getting both mental health expertise and someone who's lived the organizing grind herself.
Here's what that actually looks like in the room:
-
Miguel opens most sessions with a short grounding practice — a breathing exercise, a quick check-in with how your body feels — just enough to help everyone shift out of "go mode" and into the room.
-
Burnout, compassion fatigue, secondary trauma — we use real language for what this work does to you, so you're not left guessing why you feel the way you do.
-
We bring real scenarios from organizing life — the hard funder conversation, the community crisis that followed you home, being "on" at every single event — so what we discuss actually applies to your Monday.
-
Everyone here is doing this work — showing up for immigrant and refugee communities, week after week. No one needs it explained to them. That shared understanding is what makes this work feel less lonely.
-
Every session ends with one concrete tool — a script for setting a boundary, a two-minute reset, a way to debrief after a rough interaction — something you can actually use before we meet again.
-
If something specific is weighing on you, there's space to bring it and get real input, not just a general conversation.

Our Core Values
"In these uncertain times, it's incredibly comforting to know there are people like you standing up for those who can't — and helping others like me do the same.
Your support has helped me manage the anxiety and stress that come with this work, and it's given me the strength to keep using my voice for those who feel unheard. I truly appreciate everything you're doing — thank you from the bottom of my heart."Together We Heal Participant
